What is a Unit?

When you sign up for a full share, you get 10 'units' every week, and a half share is 5 units. So it really depends on how many veggies you eat each week and your household size.

A unit can be a bunch of carrots or a head of lettuce or cabbage. The units are always sized in a way that they have the value of at least $4.50. We do this so that picking up your veggies is easy (no weighing or packing) and you just take what you want while counting your units. The great thing is that you only take what you want, and as much as you need of your favorite things. 

Example of a Full Share (10 Units): 

Bag of baby greens (2 units)

Quart of potatoes (1 unit)

Bag of Broccoli (2 Units)

3 Medium Tomatoes (1 Unit)

1 Bag of Green Beans (2 Units)

2 Large Onions (1 Unit)

1 Bunch of Kale (1 Unit)

Spring Greens Overwhelm?

You can vary the units you pick up every week, or come multiple times/week if you need more of something and you know I have some available. For example, when it's springtime and I have a lot of greens and it feels like a lot of greens to you, you can opt to pick up less units that week and wait for a later week in the season when there might be more of something you want like broccoli, or a box of canning tomatoes (8 units). Another scenario would be if you're cooking something and realize you’re out of basil, you can come grab a bunch and use one of your units. So the units/week is a guideline for the 20 weeks so you can get the most value out of your share and I can plan roughly what to produce.
